With a normal size ‘buifding lot,
the local bylaw ensures: that the
house is sited correctly on the
lot, but with an extra large lot
the homeowner must give thought
to the siting of the house on the
lot as snow shovelling on walka
and driveways can be an irksome

task.

In National. Housing Act finane-
ed homeg-iriternal lots in any block
must contain at least 4,000 equare
feet for a detached house and
5,000 square feet for each half of
a semi-detached house. Cornet lots
must be ‘1,000 square feet larger
than internal lots in both ‘cases.
In addition certain minimum dist-
ances are required between the
house and the property lines.
These dimensions are checked at

the plang examination stage in
OMHC offices. After the munici-
pal bullding permit is issued and
the mortgage money arranged, the
actual construction could get un-
derway. .

It is very important to make all
financial arrangements before a
building. start is made, as in the
ease of an NHA loan, money can-
not be made available if construc-
tion has passed the excavation
stage.
