SUBJECT: Parking Changes on Shaughnessy Street ~
Works and Services Committee, March 6th, 1984

RECOMMENDATION:

- That one parking space on the west side of
Shaughnessy Street north of McAllister Avenue be deleted and
that the loading zone in front of the Golden Ears hotel be
converted into one. normal parking stall. ; ,

BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:

. Parked cars in front of the Texaco station Interfere
with through trafic trying to bypass left Turning traffic at
the intersection of Shaughnessy Street and McAllister: Avenue.
The -elimination of one parking space between the two driveways
of the Texaco station wil Provide more room for traffic. to go
around left turning traffic and will improve the traffic flow
at this intersection.

tn order to not reduce the total number. of spaces
avallable- on Shaughnessy Street, the Committee also recommends
_that the loading zone In front of the Golden Ears Hotel be
converted into one normal parking stalt. This loading zone is
not used as such and the hotel manager agrees with the —
conversion into a parking space. a
