Thanks to everyone who made Canadian Clay Symposium 2002 possible With the help and support of local potters” guilds throughout BC two years age the Canadian Clay Symposium was able to become arecaliry, It’s now two years later and we've had our second biennial Cana- dian Clay Symposium for us all to enjoy, I'd like to thank a bunch of people who helped make the symposium a success. The ten presenters: Alison Feargrieve, Clary lian, Peter Isley, Peter King, Susan Lepoidevin, Paul Mathieu, Sally Michener, Pamela Nagley Stevenson, Ron Roy, and Laura Wee Lay Lag are to be commended on doing a fabulous job, The clay commu- nity is 8 fortunate to have people willing to share their expertise with us. Carole Clancey, Dave Dobie, Connie Glover, Rachelle Chinnery, Darrel Hancock, Sharon Reay, Guity Moarefi, and Tanis Saxby are the Canadian Clay Symposium committee that worked so hard to get all the details done and I sincerely thank them for all their hard work. Coralie Triance did a great job of setting up the Presenters Show. Thanks to Magei Kneer for organizing the volunteers and thank you to the entire volunteer group. We really appreciate your help and support. The city of Bumaby provides the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts forus al). Without their support with this wonderful facility we wouldn't be able have this space for the Symposium, The Centre staff is so sup- portive. Techs Linda Doherty, Jay McLennan and Tanis Saxby are amazing in their abilities to pull it all together and are truly a poy to work with. We are very fortunate to have Sharon Reay, who works at the Shadbolt Centre. She really is the person who makes the symposium hap- pen. Seriously, she is amazing and I want tothank her forall her hard work and doing such a fabulous job. Greenbarn Pottery Supply provides in- credible support. All the clay and necessi~ tes the presenters use are donated by them, and backed by Plainsman. Dave Dobie, Greenbarn’s manager, organizes the booths and door prizes, They even provide stor- nee space for us. Thanks to all the booths for attending the symposium and donating such great door prizes! The North-West Ceramics Foundation is an integral part of the Canadian Clay Sym- posium. They provide funding for our key- note speaker and support for many other necessary details. The Potters Guild of BC helps atremendows amount as well. Thanks to Letia Richardson for doing such a great job supporting us in the Guild newsletters and Kimeha Rajkumar for organizing the Presenters Show at the Gallery of BC Ceramics. Thank you everyone whe contributed bowls to Project Empty Bow! helping to support A Lovingful Spoonful and those living with AIDS. This newsletter will have gone to press before the event. Rachelle Chinnery Ceramic Technician Position deadline April 22 Under the direction of Susan Robertson, the Ceramic Technician will be responsible for production and processing of various ceramic works. Duties will include, but will not be limited to, press-moulding, slab building, slip casting, trimming, wiping, painting, glazing, firing, finishing, re-claiming clay, making moulds, cleaning. The Technician will be required to participate in the daily operation of the business including reception- ist, clerical and other related duties, 40 hours per week, salary: $14,500 to 521,000. This is a small hand-manufacturing pottery studio located in Outlook, Saskatchewan specializing in decorative ceramic wall tiles and slab functional pottery. All work is hand-painted and oxidation fired.
