THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO R. Kirk, July 7, 1988 ty Administrator FROM: -M. Chong, P. Eng.-, City Engineer SUBJECT: Traffic Control! on Gillespie Place (Public Works Committee Meeting June 28, 1988) Recommendation: That a 30 kph speed ftimit be established for Gillespie Place from Coast Meridian Road to the end of the cul-de-sac and that the City Clerk be Instructed to amend the Traffic Bylaw to reflect this decision. Backqround and Comments: The attached letter from Mr. Finn (spokesperson for the Gillespie Place residents) summarizes their concerns. The Public Works Committee has met collectively with the residents of Gillespie and Bennie Places, and church officials of the Northside Chapel to hear each side of the story. While the committee is still working with the Church to bring this matter to a satisfactory resolve, a case can be made at this time to regulate the speed o1 vehicles using Gillespie Place. The volume of traffic and the number of driveways combined with the peor sight distance at the entrance to the Church property justifies the proposal to establish a 30 kph speed limit for this cul-de-sac. . phe OS, T.M.
