fe c) The Family Court Committee Brochure for Court Users was
# updated, revised and reproduced, Several hundred
7 copies have been disseminated at this time and they are
‘J kept available at the courthouse for interested members
of the public,

d) The Annual Budget was completed and accepted by the
Committee,

e) We have continually monitored the status of the
District court house. Funds have not been approved for
a new facility at this time and the Attorney General,
Brian Smith, advised us that the Project is "on hold",
It is our contention that obtaining funding for this
facility is a high priority - location is secondary and
to be decided by the municipalities at a later date,

In further interest of this Subject, we have continued

to sit on the Court Users Committee, giving input to

them about problems which we believe exist at the :
facility: e.g. Waiting room facilities for children, |
lack of pamphlet racks and information, etc.

f) We have a desire to communicate with other Family Court
Committees, as we acknowledge that we share many
concerns and problems. To this end, we exchange . f
minutes cf meetings, verbally communicate and would . oe
like to plan a meeting of neighbouring committees,

g) We appointed a new resource person from the Port Moody
Police Department,

h) A letter was sent to the Minister of Health expressing
our concern about the suggested downsizing of Riverview
| Hospital and the possible consequences to. this |
decision. Mr. Nielson has advised us that he intends
to forward a copy of the Draft Plan to our attention

and to obtain our input on this subject. ; : ;

1) We sponsored an extremely successful Wife Abuse Seminar :
on May 13, 1986, at Place Maillardville. Approximately oo | oe
90 were in attendance at this excellent workshop, We .
believe that an important part of our mandate includes
the duty to provide information to the public about
such matters,

We have continued study of MHR Funding and the impact
on District 43 this year. this has been an ongoing ee
Study project for two years, a .
