GALLERY REPORT Thanks te everyone who contributed to the success of “Coffee Cups and Java Jugs”. There is a fabulous selection of cups, mugs and java jugs for the public to discover and enjoy. Elaine Grewer-White created “Janine”, representing us all first thing in the morning by “giving thanks to the Goddess of Cafleine”. Jim Thornshury's piece is a hand holding upa cup depicting a poker hand, challenging us to seek out what the cards have dealt for usin the day ahead, Where would we be wilbout that first cup te jump-start us? Special thanks to those Guild members who do not sell in the Gallery on an on-going basis but who took the time to contribute work for the show. December is new upon us and we are trusting that our presence at the Cirele Cratt Christmas Market and advertising in Western Living has helped to remind people about the Gallery on Granville Island to shop with us this year. December is always a busy month and we are hoping for the best for this last fling for '93. Gallery artists wha want to bring work in for the Christmas season are reminded to phone to let us know when you will be arriving. We ask this because we can be better prepared toassist you when you get here. Bring us your best and we will make sure the public leave here more aware of the quality work that B.C. craftspeople create. We weleome Judy Weeden to the Gallery, the sucocssful applicant in the October Selections Committee's review. Judy is a Saltapring Island potter whose carved vase forms are quite beautiful. We wish Wilma Baker Young all the best in her move to Winnipeg, thank her for her work with the Guild in the past, and we'll also miss her in the Gallery, At the Qctober meeting of the Board. it was agreed that the Gallery should set up aspace where Guild members may, by application ona first come, first served basis, sell Cheir work for a short period without going through the jurying process. We hope to get this started in the new year. In commection with this, Guild membership will also be required for all regular sellers in the Gallery, a change from earlier policy. Participants in the Gallery should be also participants in the Guild, and for the support that members have continued to show in the Gallery, thant vou. lL bope you all have a good Christmas season and New Year.
