s a + ’ AB - The Terrace Standard, Wednesday, February 3, 1999 Out S& About New head of Co-op THE TERRACE CO-OP now has a new general man- ager. Allan Cote is now in charge of the Terrace Cooperative Association, replacing outgoing general manager Ed Berney. Berney is moving this week to Stony Plain, Al- beria, where he'll manage a Co-op there. He’d overseen a stormy time in the Terrace Co-op’s history, culminating last year with the board of direc- tors’ decision to close the main department and gro- cery store. The Co-op has continued ta operate its garden centre, petroleum sales and its home centre. Cote, 33, had been the home ceutre and petroleum sales manager for eight years. A 14-year Co-op system veteran, he bad supervised Co-op lumber yards in Wainwright, Alta. and Daw- son Creek, B.C. before com- ing here, “Our goal is to make the Co-op a viable company in the community, and to con- linue to be a strong sup- porler in the community,’ Cole said. He said a vigourous train-— ing program and product line adjustments are among changes expected to try to bring more value toa mem- bers and customers. Another key objective for aCote and the board will be selling the: iain dépaitiienit *store building. ©" *’ Although there have been frequent expressions of in- térest and queries about the building, Bemey said there have so far been no formal offers.
