part-time (2 hours per day) SPECIAL SERVICES
ASSISTANT position at Thornhill Elementary School.
The salary ranges between $11.06 and $12.86 per hour
depending on qualifications and training. ;

Essential Qualifications:

1. At least two (2) years successful experience work-
ing co-operatively under the direction of a regular
classroom teacher in an elementary school setting.

2. Demonstrated successful experience working with
children with mental handicaps.

3. Completion of a minimum of six (6)'U.B.C. equival-
ent units of course work, in working with children with
special needs, with emphasis on mental handicaps.

4. Demonstrated empathy with children with special
learning needs.

5. At least two years proven successful experience
working with children with learning difficulties.

Northwest Development Education Association is a non-profit society
based in Terrace, whose Board members come from across
the Northwest. The Association’s goal is to expand the public's
awareness of the developing world.

Under the general direction of the board, the Co-ordinator will: 1)
develop and maintain contacts with relevant community groups; 2)
co-ordinate specific education and cultural events, includin

providing leadership to a volunteer team, ensuring the successtu
completion of al tasks and defining budget requirements; 3) support
the work of non-governmental prganizations in the region; 4)
implement the policy decisions of the board; 5} complement the work
of the public education system in the area of development education;
6) co-ordinate the tasks required
