All field events must be within viewing and the confines of the Athletic Arena. The Throwing Fields must be ievel throughout. SITE DIMENSIONS: The dimensions of the proposed School site will allow for construction of the Track and Field Facilities which would meet all the requirements of the National Standards. It is important that when the pianning and detailing of the Scheol Buildings and lts support facilities commences that the minimum space requirements for construction of the Track and Field facilities not be limited or encroached upon in order to have the optimum design layout of the track facilities. Plans of the site showing the recommended layout of the track and field facilities have been prepared together with cost estimates for the site preparation and construction of the track and field facilities are included in the following pages of this report. SITE INVESTIGATION The site as shown on City plans includes two properties, one designated School Site with 16.3 acres and an adjacent property designated Park Site with 5.0 acres for a total of 21.3 acres. Presently both sites are overgrown with trees and dense undergrowth. A soils report has been prepared for the City Engineering Department by Golder Associates Geotechnical Engineers to determine the soil conditions and the stability of ground to support the construction of the track and field facilities, the report will be forwarded to Parks and Recreation Department from City Engineering. In summary, the report indicates that settlement on the site can be expected and it will be necessary to preload the site in the area designated for construction of the track and = field facilities to eliminate any possibility of settlement in the future. Also that the running track must be constructed above the high water level elevation as required by tne city codes. A more detailed intensive study of the site conditions will be necessary to finalize cost estimates for the development of the site, and construction of the track and field facilities. The costs prepared for this report are based upon the limited information known todate from the soils report and clearing of the site, while fairly accurate costs can be determined for construction of the track and field facilities. The figures given are in order of magnitude only and as requested for discussion and budget purposes only. ITEM | PAGE | 2203
