April 27, 1992/108 A vegular meeting of the Municipal Council of the Corporation of The City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chambers, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2580 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on Monday, April 27th, 1992, at 7:30 p.m. Mayor L.M. Traboulay and Aldermen M.D. Gates, M.J. Gordon, J.J. Keryluk, R.H. Talbot, M.A. Thompson and M.R. Wright were in attendance. Also in attendance were City Administrator B.R. Kirk, City Clerk s, Rauh, City Engineer I. Zahynacz and Director of Planning C.R. Felip. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Thompson: seconded by Alderman Talbot: That the minutes of the Public Hearing and Regular Council meeting held April 13th, 1992 be taken as read and adopted, Carried. PROCLAMATION: WHEREAS The Lions Clubs of the world have been working to aid the visually impaired for the past seventy years; WHEREAS The Lions, with the new "Sight First” program, intend to rid the world a of blindness and other visual defects; . oO | ee “AND WHEREAS May 2nd, 1992 is set for a worldwide fundraiser to aid in this quest, . . NOW THEREFORE I, Len Traboulay, Mayor of the Gity of Port Coquitlam, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM Saturday, May 2, 1992 as. - “LIONS* SIGHT DAY" in the City of Port Coquitlam. WHEREAS The generation and disposal of waste has become a ma jor concern to Canadians; . - WHEREAS Waste, when discarded as litter, spoils the beauty of the environment; WHEREAS Waste, when improperly disposed of into the environment, pollutes parks, recreational areas, beaches, highways, schoolgrounds and other areas and can cause physical harm to man and animals; . WHEREAS. The amount of waste can be controlled by reduction, re-use, recycling and composting; oe os a oe es
