Definition

"Factory Built. Chimneyts means a chimney consisting entirely of
factory made parts = each designed te be assembled with the other
without requiring fabrication on site.

The British Columbia Building Cede 1985 (BCBC) makes teference to two
testing Standards for "factory built chimneys! (F.B. chimneys). They

UeleCe S629 ~ 1981 Standard for 650°C Factory Built
Chinneys

This Standard provides a reasonable degree of safety.

The Standard was created in 1981 following the expressed
concerns of unsatisfactory Manufacturing processes and

inadequate testing procedures.

Type 23. Underwriters! Laboratories of Canada
UeLoC. SELO M1983 Standard for Factory Built

Fireplaces

This Standard applies to fireplaces and their components, one
of which may be a F.B. chimney.

These ¥.B. chimneys are tested to criteria much less demanding
than that required by U.L.C. $629. (Type l above)
