July 14th, 1975 and adequate accommodation will be provided. Mrs. Jacquie Blair of 1541 Manning Avenue stated that she felt the playground proposed would be adequate only for pre-~schooler's use and as such was not in a suttable location for use by those residents of building number 1. Mr. Simms reconmended the following changes for consideration: change the driveway layout; reduce the number of apartments; make one parking lot near the entrance to the development and keep cars away from the buildings, i.e. consolidate parking; make two playground areas. Mr. Milner agreed that the present parking design was not desireable but noted that most people like to have their -+rs here they can see them in an attempt to prevent vandalism as well as the fear of walking any distance in the dark from the car to the apartment. Alderman Thompson noted that when an idea comes before the Planning and Zoning Committee and the Council, every person has a different idea of how a particular developuent should be designed and it is the purpose of the Committee to try and strike a compromise. Mrs. Darlene Wenham, 1359 Larkspur Drive asked if anyone would be there to supervize the removal of trees to ensure that only /5. those tagged are removed, and was advised that although the Parks Superintendent was aware of the removal and would make periodic checks there would not be constant supervision. Mrs. Wenham also asked for clarification of the term 'low-density', and also why these units were not being offered as selfowned units. Alderman Thompson again noted the City's need for rental accommodation. Mrs. Myra Krell of 1551 Manning Avenue noted that although playground space was being provided, it was designed to suit pre-school children and what was going to happen to the teenagers, an area must be provided for them so that they don't turn to vandalism as an alternative. Mr. Wenham agreed that vandalism would be a major problem if no recreation facilities were provided for the teens and that a high density area such as this tended to breed vandalism anyway. Alderman Thompson noted that this point was well taken and the matter would be looked into further, and further reminded the public of the open Planning and Zoning meetings should anyone be interested. The Public Hearing concluded at 8:30 p-m. and the regular Council meeting then commenced. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk:
