doctor can test for lead in the body, as a safeguard
for people who have to use lead. It is wiser not
to use lead in any form, even in a fritt.
Barium compounds produce irritation to the nose
and throat, slow the heart rate and affect the

or nasal passages, to skin irritation or

dermatitis.

Kilns need adequate ventilation. This can be achieved
by using an exhaust fan with a hood over the kiln.
The hood should extend beyond the kiln to trap the
fumes. If you have a top loading kiln and need room
to get the lid open under the hood, the hood must
extend much wider. Try not te go into the kiln room
unnecessarily during firing.
