Danlete Berquist photo TERRACE — Steve Scott recently started his post as superintendent of Parks and Recreation Depart- ment in Terrace. Scott stated he was looking for more of a challenge in his work and Terrace offered just that. “My job includes oversee- ing all activities at the department, and ensuring our facilities operate well,”’ said Scott. Prior to this post, Scott was the director of Parks and Recreation for five years in Fort St. John, north of Dawson Creek. Also, he was recreation director for two and a half years in the village of Fort St. James. Scott said he and his wife Irene and their two young children, Michael, age 4, and Lanny, who is 15 months old, are look- ing forward to living in Terrace. ‘“‘We love the outdoors, and there’s lots of opportunity here for those pursuits,’’ he said. Scott added that he was looking forward to meeting the residents of Terrace. ‘‘My door is always open, if anyone wants to drop in to say hello’’. eee Have the Happiest Holliday Everl : Real Estate board gives to needy TERRACE — Donations totalling $1000 were donated to the Salvation - Army by the Northwest Real Estate Board recent- ly. by Philip Musselman The Salvation Army becomes very busy during the winter months prepar- ing people for the hard- ships of the season, Dur- ing the 1986 winter the group is working on such activities as the Kettle Kickoff. Donations are a good part of the group’s resources. So the organi- zation was very happy that the Northwest Real Estate Board donated $500 to the Terrace Salvation Army and another $500 to Prince Rupert’s branch. In Kitimat the Real Estate Board contributed an ad- ditional $500 to - Molly Gordon who is taking care of the food hampers there. The Northwest Real Estate Board covers Ter- race, Prince Rupert and Kitimat. “‘I hope that these donations will bring many more like them to the Salvation Army,”’ said Gordie Sheridan, Terrace Zone Representative of the board, ‘‘the Salvation Army gives help to many people that just couldn’t get along without it.’’ . According to Harker another service will be available for people in Kitimat thanks to Bill Manton who has volun- teered to provide trans- portation to the Christmas Day Singles Dinner. The dinner is for people who have no one to enjoy Christmas day with.
