In the spirit of proletarian internationalism Canadian Communists and all progressives feel a surge of pride and joy as we read the messages received by the Com- munist Party of Canada from fraternal parties on all the con- tinents, greeting it on the 50th anniversary of the _ party’s founding. Words of friendship and best wishes from friends are always warming to the heart. But these messages represent more than that. They are a demonstration of that world-wide solidarity of the working class that was writ- ten on its banners when the first workers’ revolutionary organiza- tion was established nearly 150 years ago. They demonstrate that unity which inspires and COMMUNIST PARTY OF THE USSR Dear Comrades, The Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union extends warm fraternal greetings and hearty congratula- tion to your party on the occa- sion of the significant jubliee — the 50th anniversary of its foun- dation. During the entire period of its existence, the Communist Party of Canada has firmly and con- sistently stood for the basic in- terests of the working class and all working people of Canada, for peace, democracy and social progress. Relentlessly combatting all ex- pressions of opportunism, both from the right and the left, the Communist Party of Canada re- solutely defends the great Marx- ist-Leninist teaching, consistently comes out in favor of the unity of the world Communist move- ment. True to proletarian inter- nationalism, it displays its frater- nal solidarity with the heroic Vietnamese people and all other peoples who are fighting against the American aggressors. The Soviet people highly value the activity of the Canadian Communists directed to the de- velopment of friendship between the peoples of Canada and the Soviet Union. On this glorious half-century jubliee we wish the Communist Party of Canada further suc- cesses and the strengthening of its ranks in the struggle for the gives strengh to the forces of progress—the peoples of - the socialist third of humanity, the workers and their allies of the capitalist countries, and the peoples fighting for their inde- pendence from imperialism in Asia, Africa and Latin America. They demonstrate that solidar- ity which is in our country win- ning the struggle to establish peace and plenty, fraternity and freedom, democracy and social- ism in the world. The Communist Party of Can- ada is the most zealous and consistent party of Canadian patriotism. From its birth 50 years ago it has fought to place the control of our country and its future in the hands of the Canadian working people, to unity of the working class and the democratic forces, against the monopolies, for peace, demo- cracy and socialism. Long live the Communist Party of Canada.. Long live friendship between the peoples of Canada and the Soviet Union.. Long live Marxism-Leninism. Central Committee, Communist Party of the Soviet Union VIETNAM WORKERS PARTY Dear Comrades, On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Canada, on behalf of the Vietnam Work- ers Party and the Vietnamese working class and people, we extend to the Communist Party, the working class and people of Canada our warm congratula- tions. We are gratified to note that over the past 50 years, although working in hard and complicated conditions, the Communist Party of Canada has had many suc- cesses in the struggle against monopoly capital, for peace, in- dependence, democracy and social progress in Canada. In recent years, together with progressive forces in your coun- try, your Party has gained many achievements in the struggle against the rule of Canadian monopoly capital to achieve genuine independence for your motherland and democratic li- berties and a better life. We wish the Communist Party promote ‘the independence of Canada, and to cement its unity on the sound foundation of the equality and freedom of our two nations with full rights for our Native peoples and ethnic com- munities. Our patriotism has always gone together with complete unity and mutual assistance with the workers and oppressed peoples of all lands. This spirit of proletarian internationalism put us in the front ranks of the “Hands off Russia!’ compaign when the imperialists tried to strangle the first socialist state, the Soviet Union, after the 1917 Revolution. We extended our helping hand to the victims of fascist terrorism in many lands, we shed our blood to defend and the people of Canada new, even greater successes in their glorious revolutionary cause. The Vietnamese people in close unity are today stepping up resistance against U.S. ag- glorious revolutionary cause. gression for national salvation. They are emulating one another in productive work to build the material and technical base of socialism in the North. The imperialists are suffering heavy defeats, but they remain very stubborn and_ perfidious. They are striving, hard to carry out Nixon’s “Vietnamization” policy which amounts in fact to prolonging the war with a view to permanent occupation of South Vietnam. They have braz- enly sent U.S. and Saigon pup- pet troops to invade Cambodia and Laos, thus extending the war to the whole of Indochina and are preparing new military ad- ventures against the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. However, they have come up against powerful resistance from the three Indochinese peoples and strong condemnation by Ameri- can and world opinion. Along with the great victories of the Khmer people and Libera- tion forces on Highway 9 have pointed to the inevitable bank- ruptcy of Nixon’s perfidious policy of making Vietnamese fight Vietnamese, Indochinese fight Indochinese. Acting on the sacred testament of venerated President Ho Chi Minh, our people are determined to carry ‘on socialist construction to success, and, shoulder to shoulder with the Lao and Khmer peoples, to persist in and Spanish democrcy, and then to defeat the fascist aggressors. We.consistently supported the peoples of China, India—all the peoples of colonial and semi- colonial countries in their fight for national liberation. We are with the peoples of Indochina, of the Middle East, of all lands where the struggle for freedom is being waged. >* We have always participated as equals in the international gatherings of the fraternal par- ties, ready to learn from the ex- perience of others and glad our voice, which has always been in favor of unity on a principled basis, has been listened to and appreciated. Just as we take pride in our step up resistance against U.S. aggression, for national salva- tion until total victory. On this occasion, we sincerely thank the Communist Party, the working class and people of Canada for their warm support to the Vietnamese people’s just struggle. May solidarity and friendship between our two parties and peoples be consolidated and de- velop day by day.. Central Committee, Vietnam Workers Party.
