Depuis 1997, il accumule les prix au Québec : « spectacle le plus populaire », «
meilleure prestation scénique », »meilleur auteur compositeur interpréte », « meilleur
album rock de l'année », « meilleur vendeur de l'année », « meilleur vidéoclip de l'an-
née avec Mon Ange ». En 1998, on lui demande d'interpréter les chansons-thémes pour
le film a succés « Les Boys ». La sortie de son troisiéme album en 1999, « Al'ombre de
l'Ange », dont est extrait cette chanson est particuliérement attendue par les fans et les
médias. Il est estimé disque d'or avant méme sa sortie ! A ce jour il a été vendu a plus
d'un demi millions d'exemplaires. LAnge s'est assagi et a mari dans ce dernier album,
il s'éloigne du rock costaud et adoucit son style avec des ballades incontestablement

The dark Angel of Quebec's Rock

The Angel is discreet, however is often referred as a troublemaker. The Angel is modest,
however is the biggest rock album seller that Quebec has ever had. The Angel is coy, how-
ever has often had his scurrilous songs censored... From contrasts to extremes, Eric
Lapointe has gone his own way since he first started in 1994. At his level, we can speak
about a phenomenon: his first album « Obsession” went gold after one week, a first for
Quebec. In 1995, he opened for the Rolling Stones in Paris in front of more than 80,000
people. He sold out a series of concerts in Montreal's famous Spectrum venue. His hit
song « N'importe quoi” was N°1 for four consecutive weeks in Quebec and N°6 in
Canada. Since 1997, he has accumulated prestigious Awards in Quebec, such as “Best
show”, “Best performance”, “Best writer-composer-interpreter”, “Best rock album”, “Best
seller”, and “Best video” of the year... In 1998, he was asked to sing the soundtrack for
the successful movie “The Boys”. His fans and the media eagerly expected the release of
his third album in 1999, ‘A l’ombre de I'Ange”. His album was destined gold even before
