Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the request contained in the October 31st memorandum from the City Adminstrator regarding the Fire Chief and one other person flving back to take delivery of the Silver Line fire truck be denied. Carried, Prior to passage of the above resolution discussion ensued during which concern was expressed that if modifications were found necessary that it would be impossible to permit staff to be away from the Fire Department for an indefinite period of time and it was also pointed out by the Fire Chief that driving the truck across Canada at this time of year would be a difficult task, however, he felt that a brief on-site inspection prior to taking delivery of the vehicle would be advantageous. Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That the request of Silver Line Fire Equipment Ltd. for an extension of the delivery date without penalty not be accepted and that they be made to live up to the Contract. Carried. Alderman Keryluk asked why the road allowance to the east of Sunny Park and James Park school yards, which is an extension of Wellington Street, had not heen considered for closure at the same time as the recent York Street Road Closure to the West. Alderman Laking advised that there had been some discussion and it had been thought that this had taken place at an earlier date, however, the matter was under further consideration at this time, and a report to Council is forthcoming. Alderman Keryluk requested that the possibility of installing garbage cans at bus stops be investigated and Alderman Ranger replied that the matter of bus shelters is presently under consideration and it may be pcssible to incorporate same in the design, Alderman Keryluk advised that he had been contacted by a resident regarding South Coast Meridian Road South of Kingsway and the condition of the ditches and requested that some action be taken to have them cleaned as soon as possible. The City Engineer agreed to investigate the problem.
