Terrace Review — Wednesday, February 13, 1991 AQ A hard-working group of young reporters were disturbed last Wednesday, when a Donald Duck look-alike rode his bicycle through Veritas School library playing a kazoo. R.C.M.P were in pursuit of the suspect, who, according to eyewitnesses, was accompanied by Huey, Dewy and Louie ducks in transit to a costume factory. This was just another news item to Terrace Parks and Recreation’s Young Journalists Ciub members. The group meets weekly to learn the "ins and outs" of newspaper reporting and journalism. "We’re mainly concentrating on interviews," said instructor Stephanie Wiebe, "and these reporters are doing a fantastic job." As a result of last week’s bizarre event, news Newsies investigate mystery duck articles, interviews and editorials were written up for the group’s own newspaper, The Terrace Inquirer. Terrace’s Recreation Program Director Shawn Krienke encourages a variety of programs like the Young Journalists Club. "It’s another type of leaming atmosphere, making it a lot of fun, I think.” Another Young Journalist group will begin in April. Other upcoming spring recreation programs include The Great Outdoors, a science group; the New Young Detectives led by Constable Jane Andrew; and How to Find a Part- Time Job, a program for 14- to 17 year-olds, sponsored by Canada Employment. Meanwhile, the duck suspect remains at large. WANTED 747 Squadron Air Cadets are looking for VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTORS Duties would involve teaching air cadets in various flelds of military training.
