The court issued the warrant for Rose Lee Pa- mela Lewis July 21 after she _ missed several scheduled — ‘court dates in Surrey. She had moved to Surrey and had asked that her file _ be sent there. That’s called a waiver. It required Lewis to . plead guilty to the charges. - Butavhen she-did not ap-' pear in Surrey court, the file was sent back to Terrace. “When the person doesn’t appear, we no longer accept the waiver and send it back to its original jurisdiction to avoid the waiver system being misused.” said Stan Lowe, a. provincial Crown official. “If she’s arrested, she’s dealt with in: that juris- diction.” Lowe said charges of fail- ing to attend court could be . added to Lewis’s file if and when she is caught. - His information indicated either Lewis or her defence counsel did appear in Sur- ° rey court initially but Lewis . missed later court dates.
