AB - The Terrace Standard, Wednesday, June 23 1999 A NEW independent agency is being formed to take over the economic development work now done by the City of Terrace. The Terrace Economic Development Authority hopes to open an office on the 4600 block of Lakelse Ave. above Hava Java in August. City economic develop- ment officer Ken Veldman will move out of city hall and become executive direc- tor of the authority. The new entity is a part- nership between the city and the Terrace and District Chamber of Commerce aimed at putting an in- creased focus on economic development in town, The city is the main finan- cial backer, _ providing $165,000 a year through a five-year coutract to be reviewed each year, That's New chamber leaders elected SEVEN NEW people were named as directors of the Terrace and District Cham- ber of Commerce at the or- ganizations’s annual general meeting June 17. They are Dan Anderson from Coast Tractor, Bert Husband from Blue Ridge Yentures, Remax realtor Sheila Love, Ron Story from Mr. Mike’s Grill, Peter Ken Veldman about what the cily now budgets for its economic de- velopment component.
