Terrace School District, but ‘also throughout — the province, The matter to. ‘which we refer is the ap- parent conflict between the new - government — Anti- Inflation Act, the Provincial Arbitration -Act and the Public Schools Act... ‘: The Anti-Inflation Act was announced last October 14 ‘and .was passed — by Parliament in December. ‘The. Department of _ “Education, shortly after 14 ~ » October 1975, advised School Boards that its intention was to apply national guidelines to the salaries of - those persons employed in the | provincial educational the sum: of $254,000 was spent in Arbitration Court. ‘proceedings in 1975 resulting ;. in most: cases, in ‘the award of settlements in excess .-of the legal provisions. ‘The Board of School Trustees therefore, respectiully requests that legislation be introduced before the next round . of salary. negotiations begin in earnest in the fall, to ensure that:- 1. The Anti-Inflation Act be clearly established as the prevailing authority; -2. The Arbitration Act be -amended to conform to the Anti-Inflation Act and all settlements awarded under the Arbitration Act: be confined within. the limitations imposed by the Anti-Inflation Act; 3.
