April 18th, 1977 provide a grant of $38,000.00 towards its operation. A letter was then submitted from Dr. §.G. Little, Chairman, New View Society, March 25th, 1977, advising that the Society is very pleased to have the use of the Dalkey building; however, PoCo House would be a definite solution with respect to security and storage problems for workshop supplies, A discussion ensued and Alderman Keryluk stated he did not feel the ~~ City could provide what was in effect a grant of $3, 200.00 to the Society due to budget restrictions, although he agreed the Society could use additional accommodation. Alderman Laking stated he felt the City had a commitment to the people now renting PoCo House as to their status in that regard, and pointed out they are paying 4 substantial rental rate for the building. Alderman Ranger stated he felt the Department of Human Resources has a responsibility towards the Society with respect to funding and accommodation. Mayor Campbell, one of the founders of the Society, spoke in favour of providing assistance to them, and the following motion was then proposed: Moved by Alderman Keryluk: That the request of the Western Association for Youth to relocate the New View Society from its present location at the Dalkey building to premises formerly known as ''PoCo House" be tabled pending a letter being sent to Mr. George Kerster, M.L.A. for this area, and a reply thereto from Mr. Kerster, on the type of funding the Frovincial Government is prepared to extend to the New View Society. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the request of the Western Association for Youth to relocate the New View Society from its present location at the Dalkey building to premises formerly known as “PoCo House", be denied. Defeated. Aldermen Laking, Ranger and Thompson voted in favour of the resolution.
