As well, an articleunfriendly drafted by Dr. Arnott of the Simon Fraser Health Unit on this subject for was reviewed and approved by the Chairman.inclusion in the City Newsletter, ' ITEM IV: QUALITY STP2IDARDS FOR BOTTLED WATER I The Chairman reviewed a request the Canadian Water and Wastewater Association that Council adopt andfromforward a resolution to the F.C.M. urging the Federal Ministry of Health to include prepackaged (bottled) water in the Drinking Water Safety Act. This product is currently regulated by the Food and Drugs Act. The Watez Quali.ty which will be incorporated Guidelines Fo- Canadian Drinking in the Drinking Water Safety Act are more stringent than the standards of the Food and Drugs Act. It was agreed that the Committee would present this Council for approval. ITEM V: recommendation to CHRISTMAS TREE BUFFS The Chairman reviewed correspondence from Mr. and Mrs. Norie requesting that their suggestion that a wood chipper be considered as an alternative to burning of all land clearing waste, not only for Christmas trees. It was determined that the Nori as should be informed y t e GVRD to call for proposals for regional of thee e ff o zt s u nd erway woodchipping facilities, and that the City is waiting to see whether anythiug positive comes out of this proposal call before dealing with the matter further. ITEM VI: OII, SLICK AT HARBOUR DRAINAGE WORKS The Deputy Engineer reviewed a report prepared by staff on an investigation into an oil slick which was reported aat thee Februar e 26 1990 C ouncil Meeting. The report noted that the source ruary of the contamination could not be identified, and the area have been required to install oilthat all recent developments in interceptors in theiz storm drainage systems. An oil capturing boom has placed across the entrance to the Harbour Outlet Works. MAR 7- 1990 ITEM VII 1 ENVIRONMENT YOUTH CORPS OF B.C ~ Correspondence froIn the Environment Youth Corps of B.C. was reviewed. This organization which is sponsored by the Ministry of Enviroument is available to work on environmental projects which may be sponsored by community groups or by the City. project would have to initiate the projects and supply direction, materials,sponsors and equipment. The Chairman suggested that the literature be Parks and Recreation, and to the local Rodforwarded to the Director of and Gun Club who may be interested in cleanup along the Coquitlam River during Pitch.-In week.
