The Midgets, Ban- tams and Peewee 'Bs' all gained split in their twa- _ game series against Prince Rupert teams while the _ Pups had a tie and a loss. The Pups came back from a3-l deficit Friday at Prince Rupert to gain a 65 tie against their hosts. Lawrence Stella scored twice while singles were notched by Kevin Montieth, Brent Petch and Chris Culp. On Saturday, Prince Rupert again took a 3-1 lead but went on to a 7-4 victory. Kelson Crouse paced Terrace with a pair while Culp and Stella got the others. A five-goal outburst in the second period was all Prince Rupert Bantams needed to down Terrace Inland Ken- worth Bantams 6-3 Friday night. Mel Reimer with two and John Amos: with one handled the Terrace scoring, On Saturday; Terrace ran up a 4-2 first-period lead and went on to down Rupert 9-5: ° Mark Flaherty, Mike Lambert and” Glenn Palahicky each. scored twice, Singles were scored by Amos, Doug Sharples and Craig Robson.. Prince Rupert picked up two misconducts in this contest, With the Twin River Peewee -‘A' Reps off to Prince George for games, Terrace Peewee ‘B’ Reps took on Prince Rupert's ‘A’ Reps at Terrace. The ‘B' kids didn’t have it Friday night as they were dumped 10-1. Tony Bob had a four. goal night for the visitors, Mark Taron got the Terrace goal. The ‘B' boys came back and hustled into a 5-2. lead, then held on to beat Rupert’ 8-5 on Saturday. Taron and Mike Rouw each fired a pair of goals. Troy Kaye, Todd Davis, Don Leblond and Dean Kraeling also scored. Terrace Ail Seasons Midgets had home ice ad- vantage against Prince Rupert, but Rupert out- scored Terrace 86 in the Friday night opener. Colin Lundrigan fired four goals to pace the coast team. Simon Dodd had two of the Terrace goals. Emile Gagnon, Ken Wideman, Doug Richey and Dave Robson got the others. Terrace came back Saturday with a 7-4 win, despite Lundrigan’s hat trick. Gagnon had three- goal performance for Terrace, Keith Van- denbroek, Dodd, Bruno Hidber and Jim Palahicky got the others. This game was marred by a battle after the final whistle. Both teams started handing oul cheap shots in the last period, and instead of shaking hands at the end, a couple of players decided to hammer each other. Suspensions are expected on th teams. At Smithers, Kitimat and Smithers Peewees Peewees split. Smithers took the first game 7-5 while Kitimat grabbed the second 5-3. Kitimat Midgets ran their unbeaten record to six Straight with 8-4 and 8-1 wins over Smithers Midgets. At Kitimat, the hometown Pups and Bantams won all four games against Smithers opponents. Kitimat Pups won 7-2 and 0-5 while Kitimat Bantams won 9-4 and 6-5. Terrace Twin River Timber Peewee ‘A’ Reps came home Sunday with a victory and a tie in their two- game exhibition’ minor hockey series against Prince George on the weekend. Terrace went up against the other Prince George Rep team — the Spruce Kings, They had played the Viking Kings in Terrace the previous weekend, Terrace won Saturday's game 5-2. They ran up period scores of 3-0 and 4-2. Dave Kawsinksy set the pace with a pair of goals. Rod Philpott, Trevor Hendry and Jeff Sharples also scored. Sunday's game ended in a 5-5 tie, It was 2-2 after the first period and 4-4 going into the third. Cliff Furnseth and Terry Zaporzan each scored twice. Gerry Lambert got the other goal. Each team picked up seven minor penalties in the first contest, Prince George had four of the six called in the second game. Kluss & Sons, Skeena Hotel cop basketball victories Two games were piayed in Terrace Mens Basketball League action Thursday night at Skeena Jr. Secon- dary School. The first game, at 8:00 P.M. saw Kluss & Sons squeak by the Skeena Hotel Orphans 97-92, while in the second contest at 9:15 P.M., All Seasons Sporting Goods downed the Ev's Clippers 91-73. In the first game, Kluss & Sons played their way toa 20- 12 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Skeeng Hotel rallied in the second quarter to tie the game at 42 apiece at half time. The game was close all the way, as Kiuss & Sons were hanging on toa slim 71-66 lead going into the final quarter. The teams scored 26 points apiece in the fourth quarter, and when the game ended, it was. still Kluss & Sons in front,. the final score 97-92. in, .their favor. John Walbergs led the way for Kluss & Sons with 35 points, F. Lindsay and W. Chemkoeachhad 16. For the Skeena Hotel Orphans, it was Jon Hurban notching 41 points, while Jim Checkiey scored 15, Ev's Clippers came out fast in the second game, and held an 18-12 jead over All Seasons at the end of the first quarter, All Seasons came - storming back with 32 points in the second quarter, however, held a 44-39 lead at half time. and never locked back. Thay jcontinued to pour it on in the’second half, and held a comfortable 72-59 lead at three quarter time. Out scoring Ev's 19-14 in the final quarter, they walked off the court with a 91-73 victory.
