WHEREAS: Community participation in local elections and voter tumouts is
important;

WHEREAS: Community involvement in local government decision making is
essential to a healthy democratic system,

AND WHEREAS: Community understanding of local government operations and the

services it provides is of primary importance to meaningful
participation at the local level,

NOW THEREFORE: I, Leonard M. Traboulay, Mayor of the Corporation of The City of
Port Coquitlam, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM the week of April 19th
to 25th, 1993, as

"LOCAL GOVERNMENT AWARENESS WEEK 93"

in the City of Port Coquitlam.
