COMMUNAUTE URBAINE | DE MONTREAL March 22, 1990 Dear colleague: The tragedy which took place last December 6 at the Polytechnical School of the University of Mentreal shed new light on the efforts which must be undertaken and Stepped up to wipe out violence in Canadian society as well as to bring about real equality between men and women. With this in mind, the Students Association of the Polytechnical School launched a petition asking that military and paramilitary weapons be banned throughout the country. The Montreal Urban Community and the City of Montreal are pleased to support this effort and have agreed to promote it among the members of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
