ZI am sure you will agree that the library should be piaced in an area in which sufficient public parking is available. There is already a marked shortage of public parking in the area ' proposede In this area most of the parking that should be available to the public has been allocated to city hall staff. Fost Office staff, Leigh Square Medical Centre staff and Health Unit staff are all without. parking facilities. In our own case this is the direct result of action by City Hall in refusing to allow us to purchase parking space at the time our building was built. At that time the lot on which ths present library is located was taken back from us because our building plans designated it as - cking space. While it is true that this was the action of a pre’. is administration there is still no reason for the present administr on to , increase the parking problem. ; No detailed study of the parking in the area is necessary to see that it is inadequate. One need only look around the area any day of the week to see every. available parking space filled within two blocks of the proposed site. Why inconvenience the public by placing their library in an area where parking is not available to them. We strongly object to such action. , Sincerely, Baird) MeDeColle
