THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM ENVIRONMENTAL PROTBCHON COMMITIXE MINUTES A meeting of the Environmental Protection Committee was held in the Councillors Room, 2580 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam, Wednesday, March 17, 1993 at 8:30 a.m. In attendance were: Councillor J.J. Keryluk, Chairman Councillor M. Thompson, Co-Chairman J.E. Yip, P. Eng., Deputy City Engineer M. Davies, P. Eng., Project Engineer The Minutes of the Environmental Protection Committee Meeting held on Wednesday, March 3, 1993 were considered, read and adopted. ITEM lit MINISTER OR ENVIRON ENVIRONAL AWARDS — Memo from Project Technician received for information. IXIN4 IIL IJQG W'ASTE dr L'ISPENSER PROGRAM Information from Earth's First Pet Waste Management received. ITEM IV: PROPOSALS FOR COMPOST BIN SALES. The memo dated March 03, 1993 from the Project Technician was reviewed and following consideration it was recommended snd approved that 3 businesses be chosen to distribute home composters. (David Hunter, Art Knapp and Reids Hardware) All other reconunendations were approved. It was noted that Port Moody will not be proceeding with any home composter sales this year. The committee discussed the home composting program and enquired as to the success and effectiveness of the 1992 program. It was recommended that a questionnaire be sent to 150 to 200 last years purchasers of composters. Questions could include: use, volume, number purchased, type of material comp osted, comments, questions etc. Results of such a questionnaire will be reported back to committee when available. ITEM V CITY COMPOSTING OPIIONS. The committee reviewed the memo from the project Engineer dated March 15, 1993. Deputy Engineer advised that the Ministry of Environment and C.P. have tentatively agreed on the remediation of the contaminated property to be taken back from htrawest.
