It’s a 32-team event whereby entrants paid $220 entry fees for the three-day series. The top winner goes home with $3,000, while the runnerup pockets $2,000. Third-place money is $1,200, while the team _ . finishing fourth takes $900. Teams placing in the top 16 are all winners.. Those in the fifth to eighth positions each get _- $200, while those coming ninth to 16th earn $100 each. _ The consolation winner takes away’ $450 while the team he beats leaves with $200. Kitimat’s Mark Fitz- patrick is the only goaltender listed among their top 10 pros- pects, , Mark, who guards the nets for New Haven Nighthawks, had a six-win, three-loss record with a 2.77 goals-against average and a ‘ 910 save percentage when the parent Los Angeles Kings called him up for a three-game stint on | Nov. 1 He had already posted one shutout at New Haven, a 33-save effort against Maine Mariners ' on Oct. 16. With the Kings, Mark backed- up two games, then, played against Chicago Black Hawks where he counted a 5-3 win. The Hockey News quotes new Haven coach Rick Dudley as saying Fitzpatrick is cool under pressure and stands up well. The three games with the Kings were a ‘look-see’ basis. Kings’ management said earlier they would bring Mark along slowly and not put him into the NHL’s pressure cooker until he. gained solid pro experience in .the minors. The 20-year-old Fitzpatrick was drafted 27th overall by the Kings in the 1987 draft. He was their second round choice — a higher than normal choice for a goaltender.
