4 Ride raises over $1900 TERRACE —_— Over $1,950.00 was raised at a benefit banquet for the participants of the 1986 national Ride For Sight, held recently at the Inn Of The West, in Terrace. Approximately 30 people attended the ban- quet, said spokesman James Gilham, and “it was a success!’’ In ex- cess of $1950 was raised locally, said an elated Gilham, and a whopping $347,807 was raised na- . tionally, . Donations made will be going to the Retinitis Pigmentosa Foundation, an eye disease research _ center. “This kind of as- sistance, time and effort was very much ap- preciated,” Gilham said. ‘Thanks, everybody. Without you it couldn’t have been done. It’s great to see people take time out to care for a cause.”’ National Ride For Sight, sponsored in B.C. by the B.C. Motorcycle Federation, and Road- runners Motorcycle Club (RMC) of Terrace is in- terested in making motorists more aware of two-wheel vehicles to prevent accidents. Every June, said Gilham, RMC parti- cipates in the National Ride For Sight. The ride is a charity fund-raising event with the proceeds going to the national Retinitis Pigmentosa Foundation. “We're proud to be part of the largest single charity event in this country,’” commented Gilham. ‘‘This event in- volves motorcycles ex- clusively, and it’s great to be part of it. Winners of the 1986 Ride For Sight door prizes are: Brenda Leason who won a door prize donated by Terrace Equipment Sales; Kent Keenleyside who won a prize donated by Crazy Dads Hawg Shop in Houston; and Clayton Smith was presented with a gift donated by Northern Motorcycle Inc., Terrace. Highest single con- tributor prize was award- ed to Candy Carr from Smithers. Honorable mention went to Group Bikers Rights Organization of Prince Rupert. Long distance riders award went to Gwen and Mike Wall from Dawson Creek. Bob Crampton won a door prize donated by C & D Harley in Terrace, Pat Wiltiams was the winner of a prize donated by Harley Davidson in Smithers, Sandi Smith won a prize donated by Benson Optical Labs. ‘Donations were very much appreciated,’’ stated Gilham, ‘‘and we’re already looking forward to next year’s run’’ Thanks to all the merchants for being part of the 1986 Ride For Sight.
