Proof of this, he stated, was the way the old line parties haggled over a Canadian flag and allowed such measures as the Canadian labour code, Canada Pension Plan, and medicare gather dust. Attempts by his party to have the House shelve the flag debate and get on to more important business were soundly defeated, he said.
