Minutes: Oct. 23/78 Delegations: Boy Scouts of Canada, Ort. 26/78 re Space in Old Library.. November 6th, 1978. Mr. Ray Dean, 1741 Langan Avenue, asked for clarification on the industrial zoning and advised that there has been a problem with machinery running at night. Mayor Campbell advised there is a noise abatement by-law which could be involved in situations such as this. At 8:25 p.m. the Public Hearing adjourned. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on October 23rd, 1978 be taken as read and adopted, Carried. DELEGATIONS: His Worship Mayor 5.M. Campbell introduced Mr. B. Robertson, representative for the Boy Scouts of Canada, who then spoke on the request from the Boy Scouts of Canada, October 26th, 1978 for space in the old library at Leigh Square. Alderman Ranger advised he was against using the old library for community groups a year and a half ago as it was thought it ma, be possible to rent out the space and receive some revenue but that he would now recommend the building be used for community use and would support the request from the Boy Scouts. Alderman Keryluk advised the building would have to be upgraded to meet the Fire Marshal's yequirements. Alderman Thompson Suggested that an estimate be done of the cost involved in upgrading the old library building. Alderman Laking asked that other groups who may wish to use the facilities be contacted. Mov..t_by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the Boy Scouts of Canada's request for space in the old library building, October 26th, 1978, be referred to the Building and Protection Committee to review the extent and cost of renovations required; AND THAT the Leisure Activities Committee lock into possible use by other interested groups.
