In reading over reports on the Coast Meridian-Prairie Road commercial
expansion, I wonder if we are premature in allowing this development to proceed,
We talk about controlled development and if you look at this area, it might well

be that we should look at what already exists and the problems with expansion,

i. The original Northside centre has been allowed to deteriorate.

2. The large commercial building on the South side of Prairie has had

problems with occupancy.

3. The large G.V.R.D. Housing Development would abut this development, -

not the best situation.

4. Over~expansion in this area would be another problem with getting

our proposed Town Centre development moving.

5. It has been this Council's policy to do everything possible to
enlarge the Downtown core; this will not help that situation.
6. We do not want to create another bunch of vacant buildings.

I would respectfully request that City Council give serious con-

sideration to these items along with probably Many more before this zoning

proceeds too far.
