March 17th, 1972, To: The'Mayor ani Aldermen From: Parks & xecreation Committee MAR 20 1972 | Consolidation of the two section: of Agpie Park into one useable area. The meeting discussed the need for a Lacrosse Box on the north side of the City and the appropriate lecation for the box. It was agreed that Aggie 7 Park was the most suitable location if it were possible to close Coquitlam Avenue, between Chester and Flint and include this area into the park. This closure will consolidate the two sections of Aggie park into a very useable park area. The increased traffic on Coquitlam Avenue has nade it unsafe for children to use the Mini park. Recomrendation: That the Coquitlam Avenue between Chester Avenue and Flint Avenue be closed te traffic; that this area be included in the Aggie Park grounds and eventually be the home of another lacrosse box for the City of Port Coquitlan, Item #2: Use of Drugs in Minor Sports (For information). . The meeting discussed the reported use of pep pills and novocaine in minor sports. It was stated that these drugs are administered to players who have suffered a sprain or other minor injury to enable them to continue play. The Committee adopted the following resolution: "That the Parks and Recreation Committee oppose the use of drugs in minor sport by coaches or anyone connected with minor sports". GE.
