THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM C 0 J i ' C | MEMORANDUM APR 28 1980 TO: Mayor and Council April 24th, 1980 FROM: Public Works Committee Report from the Public Works Committee Meeting held Tuesday, April 22nd, 1980. IN ATTENDANCE: Mayor G.R. Laking Alderman E.W. Mabbett Alderman L.M. Traboulay F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer Several other Aldermen were present for part of the meeting. ITEM I Re: Public Works Budget - Highways Grant It was reported that we had received approval from the Minister of Municipal Affairs for cost-sharing on the Kingsway Avenue reconstruction but that our application for Prairie Avenue construction was not approved due to insufficient funds. As the lack of cost-sharing by Highways reduces our revenues by $86,500, the Committee recommends that the widening and resurfacing of Prairie Avenue not take place this year but that the construction of storm sewer and sidewalk on the north side between Newberry Street and Cedar Drive be done this year at an estimated cost of $58,000. This amount would be available from our share of the total funds without requiring an increase in the budget. ITEM ITI Re: STOP Sign at Lombardy and Cedar Drive Lombardy Avenue has now been paved and building is taking place along the street. It is necessary to have a STOP sign at the intersection of Lombardy with Cedar Drive and the Committee recommends that this be approved. - ITEM IIT Re: Secondary Highways Designation Due to the construction of the Mary Hill By-Pass, a section of secondary highway no. 210B which consists of Trenton and Kingsway Avenue between the Lougheed Highway and the Tri-Line entrance is being eliminated. This section is being incorporated in proposed arterial highway designated no. 673R which consists of the Mary Hill By-Pass Highway from the Lougheed Highway to Broadway Street. The remainder of our present secondary highway ' J2esae
