‘ depending on how much work can be completed by existing staff, There are two ways of getting this work done either by a consultant or in house. It is estimated that if we go to consultants to do a proper job of all of these projects the fees would be in excess of $100,000.00. As an alternative the hiring of an engineer on a contract basis would keep the cost down to a fraction of this amount. The engineer estimates that the work should take about two years to complete. An engineer with one or two years design experience should be available for $20,000.00 to $22,000.00 per year. The cost of the salary involved can be charged to the appropriate capital budget account, that is to water, sewer utilities or be included in the appropriate road development cost charges. One problem that does exist at the present time is finding space for an extra engineer and as we are working on estimates for renovating the old library it will be possible to move staff around and make space.
