Just a couple of Social events to keep us in touch, Our meeting date has been changed so please note, that starting in September we will have the GENERAL MEETINGS on the THIRD WEDNESDAY of each month at the Unitarian Church at 49th Avenue and Oak Street, We will look forward to seeing you all on September 17th at 8:00 poem. In the meantime two events of a Social Nature have been planned: A_ PICNIC - Saturday July 12th - 3100 to 8:00 pom. Iris Smith has very kindly invited us, for the fourth time, to hold the picnic at her place, which is at her new home in Maple Ridge (‘laney), address: 13948 Silver Valley Road, She tells me that. you turn off the Dewdney Trunk Road at 232nd Street and go up the hill for a while until you come to a fork in the road - then turn right which is Silver Valley Road, Sounds so easy, doesn’t it? Bring food for supper for your group - we will supply coffee. And remember to pray for a fine day!! Galiano Island: A trip to Galiano Island has been suggested and quite a few . people seemed interested. It could be August 9th or 16th. For further infor- mation phone Gordon Thorlaksson 688-0856, Jean Fahrini is hosting the International Picnic for the Society for Asian Art at 4686 West 2nd Avenue, Vancouver, on August 10th, time 4:00 to 8:00 Dem. Each person is asked to bring a National dish for their country, to contribute to the picnic supper. Phone Jean at 224-6200 for details. Workshop: Robin Hopper is exhibiting pottery at the House of Ceramics in August ‘and is available for workshops, We hope to arrange a workshop for the Guild. Our Committee is working on this, We will let you know the time, place, and entry fee as soon as plans are completed. HYCROFT: Our tenth Annual Sale will be held at Hycroft this year on November 21st, Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The number of entries has been raised to fifty (50) so work hard and save lots of your best pots for those good customers we disappointed last year. Entry fee will be three dollars ($3.00) commission taken by the Guild 25% from members, 40% from non-members, A Committee has been formed with Gene Barker as co-ordinator and plans are well underway. We will be calling for lots of volunteers come September, TRAVELLING SHOW: Marie von Hausmann has been very tusy buying pots for the Travelling Show. If you wish to exhibit this show in your Community please contact Marie as soon as possible so an itinerary can be arranged. To equalize the cost of shipping it has been decided to charge the same amount to each group regardless of distance, This amount has not been determined yet but we hope approximately ten dollars ($10.00) The pots have been chosen from porcelain, lustre ware and Salt glazed ware, Each pot will bear a tag giving the potter's name: and some information about the pot. LIBRARY: Frances Fraser has agreed to be librarian for the coming year, Any overdue books can be mailed to her at 4316 Capilano Road, North Vancouver, V7R 4J5, Books taken at the June General Meeting can be kept over the summer, but please return them at the September Meeting or mail to Frances. ; We would like to have a complete set of the Western Potter for the Guild Library, Would anyone having extra copies please send them to Frances? PROGRAMS: Hiro Urakami is our new program Chairman and is planning some inter= esting programs for us. If you have some good ideas get in touch with Hiro. FESTIVAL CANADA is being held in Ottawa during July, Akiro Tomito will be dem- onstrating potter there. Akiro came to Vancouver from Japan last year. You may have met him and his charming wife at the House of Ceramics. And speaking of the House of Ceramics - Hiro needs help!!
