For details, phone The Terrace Standard, Wednesday, November 11, 1992 - Page C3 Sport Scope _ League looking for members For those who’ve been thinking about trying curling but are in- timidated by the idea of going into one of the night leagues, Suzette Estacaille has the perfect solution. It’s the Sunday Afternoon Mixed, a league which offers a chance to Jearn the game ‘without the stress of the night leagues’’, she said. , : That same relaxed atmosphere also makes it an attractive league even for experienced curlers, Estacaille added, pointing out she has curled for the past eight years. And the name Mixed referred to the make up of the entire league rather than individual teams. Where the normal mixed Ikague team must consist of two men atid two women, she said Sunday squads include single sex as well as mixed teams. The league has also drawn curlers from across the age spectrum. With 11 rinks signed up at the moment, Estacaille said would like to at Jeast even it up with one more team. But vou don’t have to bring a complete foursome with you to join, The twelfth tcam could be made up of newly registered individuals or couples. . Curling begins at 1 p.m. each Sunday and lasts approximately two hours. Estacaille said the cost is $84 which covers ice time through to season’s end in March plus a wind-up dinner. For more information, phone Suzette at 635-2523. Second sheet money okayed | City council has decided to come up with the extra money needed to do a cost study on a proposed new ice rink, The city had set $20,000 in this year’s budget to cover the cost of the study which would include drawings and a model of the facility plus a cost estimate for the project. However, architect Royce Condic’s report to aldermen indicated the bill for the study would come in at slightly more than $27,000. Council has agreed to cover the difference out of next year’s budget.
