For the second time in five
years the Kitimat recreation
department has brought the
proposal of a new recreation

downed for several reasons,
according to Kitimat
recreation director John
Gurban. “People just didn’t
want to spend that much
money on new facilities. At
that time the cost was
around 2 million, the new
croposal is for a 3.0 million

Gurban went on to explain

He states that the peopte of
Kitimat have come to a time
when they should speak out
and get things done for their
community, “If we don't do
it now. we fear it will never be

The proposed facillty will
include squash courts,
something Kitimat is lacking
now, & sauna and general
fitness area composed of one
universal gym.

The largest and most
costly portion of the entire
‘project will be the arma
complex.: Seating for 3500
{persons plus a multi-use
floor will be included.
