L’Association des francophones de Nanaimo and its Maple Sugar Festival have been finalists in the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce Sterling Community Awards nominations! It is with great pleasure and enormous pride that the Francophone Association of Nanaimo received a Sterling Awards nomination for ‘Excellence in Business’, in the Arts, Culture and Entertainment category. Now in its fifth year, the Sterling Awards offer recognition to various sectors of the greater Nanaimo region for outstanding achievements and continued dedication to their community. Other fine organisations also in the running for the award were: the Nanaimo Clippers, the Harbour Front Library and Spotlight Academy. The winners have since been announced and the AFN would like to congratulate the Sterling Award recipient: The Nanaimo Clippers. The AFN is still very proud of its nomination and our association’s representative present at the event, was equally honoured during the evening, with another three special mentions from other nominees who emphasised their support for the AFN and the Maple Sugar Festival. This type of public statement once again, underlines the AFN’s initiatives which are being recognised and appreciated throughout the community. Earlier this year, the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce also commemorated the AFN’s 15" year membership and dedication to its organisation by remitting a certificate of recognition to our President, Mrs. Lise Quinn. Bravo to everyone and many thanks to our fine community for the support!
