"THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEM ORANDUM B. Kirk, November 17, 1982 City Administrator F TO: FROM : -E. Peters., P. Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: Parking on Lions Way ~ Public Works Committee, November 16th, 1982 RECOMMENDATION: That signs indicating No Parking At Any Time. be installed on both sides of Lions Way adjacent to the park. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: The Public Works Committee reconsidered the question of parking on Lions Way after referral by Council and agree with the opinion expressed that parking on either side of the road creates a safety hazard for children who may be running From one side of the Park to the other. Therefore, the original recommendation has been changed to include botn sides of Lions Way. Since the parking restriction is for the purpose of improving the safety of children, it will be necessary to have the signs in effect at all times including weekends, when the parks are used to the fullest extent. The Committee is concerned that there may be a shortage of parking for some of the major functions which are held in Lions Park in the summer. However, the amount of parking available can be reviewed next Summer for further consideration by Council. F.E. Peters., P. Eng.,— City Engineer
