Hares, Takako Suzuki Takako Suzuki lives and works in the lower mainland, She has studied at Meiji University in Tokyo, at Emily Carr College of Art and Design in Vancouver, and the Banff Centre of Fine Arts in Alberta, During her career as a potter, Takako has had her work exhibited in Banff, Vancouver, Hawaii and Tokyo. Her current work can be seen at the Gallery of B.C. Ceramics on Granville Island. Takako concentrates on making earthenware. Decoration is not secondary to the form and is extremly important to her work. It is the decoration aspect that she will be concentrating on during her upcoming workshop at the Burnaby Arts Centre in July. During the two day workshop, Takako will demonstrate slip trailing, brushwork and marking on earthenware. She will show slides and also demonstrate how she makes her footed bowls, This workshop will be hands-on on the Sunday, when participants may bring their own clear-glazed pieces if they wish, in order to work alongside Takako as she shows enamel painting techniques. Sadashi Inuzuka Sadashi Inuzuka was bom in Kyoto, Japan. He came to Vancouver in the early 80°s and attended Emily Carr College and started his pottery life at that time. He went on to cam a M.F_A. at Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan, during which time he developed the ideas of making big work. In 1987 Sadashi moved to Ontario and has been working there until recently producing large, impressive installations and exhibitions. A recent article in Ceramics Monthly - March 1994 reveals Sadashi’s passion and motivation for his work in clay, He recently returned to the lower mainland and the Potters Guild is delighted to be able to offer to its members what will prove to be an exciting two day workshop given by Sadashi called: BIG POTS: NO SWEAT!
