COMMUNISTS TO MEET Issue call for anti-monopoly unity to block Right in B.C. “Unite in action for people’s needs Build the anti- me@hopely alliance ... Keep &peoples, farm, and obtaina better return from the big corporations. e Repeal anti-labor laws: Replace the present Labor Rela- tions Board, repeal Bills 42, 43, end the use of injunctions in labor disputes, guarantee the right to organize, strike and picket, and enact a Charter of Labor Rights. e Increased aid to munici- palities, for health, education, pensions and welfare; adequate financial aid for urban mass transit, sewage disposal and environmental protection. for Native tenants, democratic and civil rights. The issue in B.C. today is not socialism — but the building of the broadest possible unity of all genuine anti-monopoly forces for the implementation of such a program to meet the people’s needs. Welcoming the defeat of the Socreds and election of the NDP as ‘‘an important break-, through,’”’ the resolution points ‘out that this is first time in Canada the NDP has been elected in an.industrialized prov- ince with a large and militant trade union movement. ie Outlining the Party’s attitude to the NDP the resolution says Communists are guided exclu- sively by the interests of the working class. ‘‘We will support every move the new govern- ment makes that contributes to anti-monopoly struggle.’’ Stat- ing that progress will depend on public action from the broad people’s movements, the resolu- tion says that the Communists’ attitude will be one of psoitive- yet critical support. Pointing to the major role played by the working class and the unions in the fight to oust the Socreds, the resolution says: “The best guarantee’ that progressive forces in this prov- ince will be able to defeat the rightand moveB.C. forwardlies in mobolization and unification of the labor and democratic movements around today’s immediate and major anti- monopoly demands.”’ Classified advertising COMING EVENTS MARCH 4th — PANCAKE BREAKFAST & LUNCH, Sunday, March 4th, 11:00 A.M. — 3:00 P.m., SAMPO HALL, - 25470 Dewdney Trunk Rd., Mapel Ridge.
