SUBJECT: REQUEST POR "30KIM/H SPEED ZONE SIGN -

_ Attached is a letter from a resident of 4078 Wedgewood St. requesting that the Engineering
Dept. install "30km/h" signs on Victoria Dr. between Apel and Wedgewood.

Reason For Request

The resident would like the sign installed: ; | ae
-on this block because it is a busy street used by school children, and EE

-because the only sign indicating speed reduction is, in her opinion, confusing as to
which street it applies to. |

There is presently a "Playground" sign with a 30lem/h tab on the southeast comer of Apel and
Victoria. (See map for other signs in area)

The sign in question is angled in such a way at to indicate to motorists tuming right onto
Victoria from Apel that they are entering a playground area. This sign affects the area from the
comer of Apel to the next playground sign located at 1252 Victoria.

The City of Coquitlam has installed the signs for the area efter a study was completed a couple
of years ago regarding the four-way stop and signage. | |

Installing another sign will cause confusion to motorists as there are already many signs at this
intersection and general area.
