Freeman City Clerk 2475 Gately Avenue RECOMMENDATION: That Council give consideration to passage of the following resolution: "That the Council of the City of Port Coquitlam hereby declares that the building located in the City of Port Coquitlam, Province of British Columbia, on land more particularly known and described as Lot 16, District Lot 379, Group One, Plan 3106, New Westminster District, EXCEPT two parts on Plan with Bylaw filed 292263 (2475 Gately Avenue) is in so dilapidated and uncleanly a condition as to be offensive to the community. It is hereby ordered that the said building be demolished by the owners or agent of the owners, within thirty (30) days of service of this order upon them. It is further ordered that should the owners or agent of the Owners fail to comply with the aforesaid order within the said period of thirty (30) days, the Engineering Department, by their workmen, or contractors, may. be instructed to enter on the lands and demolish the building at the expense of the owners, ,and the charges for sa doing, if unpaid by the owners on the 31st day of December, Shall be added to and form part of the taxes payable in respect of that land as taxes in. arrears.” BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: Attached to this memorandum is a photocopy of a letter dated July 12th, 1982 from the City's Chief Building Inspector addressed to the owner of the above noted property and you will note the Chief Building Inspector's concern that the dwelling is unsafe for habitation and is in an ex tremely hazardous condition. Before giving consideration to the draft resolution quoted above all Council members should ensure that they have personally viewed the building complained of and if the owner of the property its in attendance at the Council meeting of August 16th, 1982 (as he has been invited) he should be permitted to address the Council. so — A Che Co wee —— R.A.
