COUNCIL OCT 16 1972 TO: . Mayor and Council Date: October 10, 1972 FROM: Alderman Ranger c.c. Residents of Paula Place . Chairmen of Public Works RE: Paula Place I am opposed to Alderman Mabbett's motion to pave an extension of Paula Place. As the name implies, it is a cul-de-sac and was planned, designed and built as such. The temporary gravel access across the Hydro Right-of-Way to the school site was constructed to gravel standard earlier this year as a result of discussions ‘ between the School Board and the Traffic Committee in 1971. At that time it ‘ was. pointed out by Alderman Laking and myself that Paula Place was not to be H considered a permanent access route for vehicles. We felt that if Paula . Z became a permanent access it would be detrimental to the residences and residents. 1 As mentioned, it was planned, designed, built and sold as a cul-de-sac. Through 3 traffic should be discouraged. I disagree with Alderman Mabbett's motion to turn A it into a through street. : The Traffic Committee also pointed out to the School Board that Vivian Way and Western Drive were designated as the access routes to the school site. Western Drive would have to pass over private land (Hullah) and Vivian Way extension was premature. See Map Attached, I would also like to point out that the Board does not plan on opening Hazel Trembath School until September 1973. Respectfully submitted, . : Alderman Phil Ranger
