Riecken Acting City Engineer SUBJECT: Purchase of Traffic Signal Controller Yor Oxford/Prairie (Public Works Committee Meeting July 3, 1990) RECOMMENDATION: That the City purchase the controller for the Oxford/Prairie signal installation from Econolite Canada Inc. at their quoted price of $9,219.00 plus provincial sales tax. That $10,000: be allocated from the Roads: Development Cost Charge Reserve Fund for this purpose. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: Shaflik Enginearing have recommended that the City order the traffic signal controller fer the Oxford/Prairie intersection now vather than wait until a contract is awarded for installation of the signals due to the nine week delivery time. Operations have been standardizing on the purchase of Econolite Controllers for ease of maintenance, and because of the quality of product and support service offered by the supplier, Shaflik have indicated that the quoted price is in line with other manufaeturer's pricing. The Committee recommends that the controller be ordered from Econolite to avoid delays in installation of the signals. Once the design of the signals has been completed and tenders have been received for the installation contract, the Committee will make a further recommendation on award of the contract and allocation of the remainder of funding required. Council will recall that $6,000 has previously been allocated to cover design costs. a} Uy- / z AV it Aler / <7 < D.G. Riecken, P. Eng. Acting City Engineer ’ DGR/ge Attachment Cont'd /2.c.¢ aGe
