Kermodes line-up still open WITH THE zone playoffs just over two weeks away, Caledonia’s Kermodes are com- ing together At least those who are playing. Coach Cam McKay said only Hine team members made the recent trip south for a Victoria tournament. 2... cu 'Thal?s: the: second out-of-town trip where the Kermodes have been short-handed, However, a short bench worked in favour of some of the players in Victoria because they got more playing time than usual. That in turn is giving them a chance to crack the starting line- up where McKay said some posi- tions are still up for grabs. Cal opened their Island trip with an exhibition game against Parkland of Sydney, a 73-59 win for the Kermodes, Joseph Dominguez led the scor- ing with 29, Jassie Osei-Tutu hit for 27 and Breit Kuss added an- other 14 points. Osei-Tutu caught fire in the toumament’s opener, sinking 44 points and picking up 21 rebounds. However, a lack of offensive checking hurt the Kermodes who fell 88-73, to hometown Stellys. But the team began. to. gel-in their next outing, edging out Esquimalt 69-66. Dominguez put up 28 of the team tally, Chris Tomas 19 and Osei-Tutu 16. Their final on-court appearance had the Kermodes facing Mount Douglas where Osei-Tutu, having already scored 22 points, fouled out just three minutes into the second half, However, McKay said ihe rest of the team played well to fill the gap, only misses from the line costing the Kermades the game, 67-65.
