B4 Terrace Review — Wednesday, May 9, 1990 Square dancers’ last do-si-do Contributed by Bev Greening The final event of the Skeena Squares Dance Club for this season was a jamboree held in the Carpenters’ Hall in Terrace. Over 40 enthusiastic square dancers assembled. on Friday, April 27 for an evening of get- ting acquainted and having fun. On Saturday. afternoon many ‘chose to attend a workshop to learn more of the square dance figures. A dinner prepared by | members of the Skeena Squares was followed by dancing at the mainstream level throughout the evening. The final activity of the jamboree was a no-host, break- fast at the Mount Layton Hot Springs on Sunday morning. Many of the jamboree par- ticipants square danced in the pool to earn a “‘turtle badge’. A special treat for the jam- boree was the guest caller Delmar Carter from Clearwater, B.C. With over 25 years ex- perience as a caller and a good sense of humor, Del was a lively addition to the event. Other guests came from _ Victoria, Smithers, Kitimat and Kemano. Skeena Squares Dance Club will resume regular activities again in September with two levels of dance instruction — beginner and mainstream. Sum- mer square dancing has started on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 10. p.m, in the Happy Gang Centre on Kalum Street. Every- one is invited to come and join in the fun. [~ The Scores Are...
