oe. Resa THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MAY 27 199% B.R. Kirk DATE: May 23, 1991 City Administrator UR. Zahynacz, P. Eng. City Engineer That the City of Port Coquitlam accept the proposed long term road pattem presented in a letter from the Ministry of Transportation & Highways, dated May 13, 1991 for the Mary Hill Bypass, Coast Meridian Road and Kingsway Avenue. The Ministry of Transportation & Highways in a report prepared by N.D. Lea, Consultants, dated July, 1990, proposed to close Coast Meridian Road, north of the Mary Hill Bypass by creating a cul-de-sac on Coast Meridian Road. On January 4, 1991, Council adopted a resolution opposing the creation of a cul-de-sac on Coast Meridia Road, north of Mary Hill Bypass. After consultation between City Staff and the Ministry of Transportation & Highways staff, plus input from local businesses, the Ministry of Transportation & Highways have reconsidered their position and have proposed the following: 1. To keep the intersection of Coast Meridian Road and Mary Hill Bypass as a four way intersection (status quo) at this time. In the future, if traffic safety considerations require changes, a removable barrier would be placed along Mary Hill Bypass median. This would allow a right tum in and a right turn out to Coast Meridian Road on the north end and the south side of the Mary Hill Bypass. | Rather than constructing a frontage road in the future, north of the Mary Hill Bypass, between Coast Meridian Road and Kingsway, the intersection of Coast Meridian Road & Kingsway would be reconstructed to accommodate the turns of large trucks. - The proposed long term road pattern is shown on the attached revised figure 3.6, dated May 17, 1991.
